We are Salish Elements, an Indigenous-owned hydrogen company making reliable and regenerative hydrogen (rH2) fuel supply a reality in British Columbia. For the last 3 years, we have been developing our core market-offering, rH2, and are now working toward construction of our first hydrogen production utility. Position Summary
We are seeking a Process Engineer who will take design and Owner’s Engineering responsibility for our green hydrogen production facility and associated distribution and end-use systems. The successful candidate will lead process design from concept through FEED, detailed engineering, and operational handover, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable hydrogen systems.

Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
  • Take ownership of all process design deliverables (PFDs, P&IDs, mass and energy balances, equipment specs, operating conditions).
  • Lead FEED studies and carry process designs through to detailed engineering.
  • Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and industry best practices for hydrogen production, storage, and distribution.
  • Design and optimize hydrogen production processes (electrolysis, purification, compression, storage).
  • Develop process design for hydrogen distribution systems, including pipelines, trailers, and refueling stations.
  • Integrate hydrogen end-use systems (fuel cells, industrial applications, power generation).
  • Act as the owner’s representative in design meetings, HAZOPs, and technical workshops.
  • Prepare and approve technical documentation, design calculations, and operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with FEED and EPC contractors, vendors and consultants to ensure timely and accurate delivery of process-related documentation
  • Work cross-functionally with mechanical, electrical, civil, and controls engineers to ensure design integrity.
  • Provide technical leadership during construction, commissioning, and startup.
  • Ensure designs are cost-effective, scalable, and aligned with company growth.

Qualifications, Preferred Skills & Experience

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Registered Professional Engineer in B.C. (P.Eng) with EGBC
  • 10+ years of process engineering experience, with proven design ownership in industrial projects.
  • Direct experience with FEED  design packages.
  • Strong understanding of hydrogen production technologies, compression, liquefaction, storage, and distribution systems.
  • Proficiency in process modeling and simulation (Aspen Plus, HYSYS, MATLAB, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of process safety and environmental regulations.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills; able to represent design decisions internally and externally.
Preferred Experience
  • Hydrogen fuel cell systems and industrial hydrogen end-use applications.
  • Pipeline and refueling infrastructure design.
  • Experience in scaling up new/renewable energy technologies.
